Social Implementation
Blockchain technology is promising as a platform for providing solutions to global problems such as
(1) digital IDs for health services for refugees
(2) trading in decarbonized energy such as renewable energy and hydrogen
(3) low-commission, non-discriminatory international remittances
(4) management of supply chains and commodity markets
as the basis for providing solutions to global problems.
The energy trading system EDISON was developed and tested at a student dormitory at the Graduate School of Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability, Kyoto University.

●Background
Blockchain can be a fundamental technology to provide solutions to various global issues : international remittance for migrants with low cost, fast and reliable way, supply chain management, and trade of distributed energy such as renewable energy.
●Goal

We Develop a blockchain distributed energy trading system and conducted a small-scale demonstration experiment in a university dormitory.

We deploy the energy trade system using blockchain technology for effective usage of renewable energy by considering the utilization of energy storage devices owned by consumers and the monitoring of consumption behavior using sensor technology.
EDISON: System Configuration
The system uses XRP ledger that consumes little electric power for validation because it uses an algorithm instead of mining.
